Camporedundo caught the attention of barangay tanods and policemen and when he was frisked, a caliber .45 pistol, was found in his possession.
A witness had identified him as one of the companions of the triggerman in the killing of Rodrigo Salas, brother-in-law of Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Jr., last weekend.
Witnesses claimed seeing at least three ski mask-wearing men in Barangay Sta. Cruz before Salas was gunned down as he came out of his grocery store.
Police said Camporedundo was sighted acting suspiciously near the scene of the crime in Barangay Sta. Cruz yesterday.
Investigators said they will investigate further Camporedundos involvement in Salas killing but will immediately file charges of illegal possession of firearm against him.
Salas relatives suspect that government operatives could be involved in the murder, saying that Salas was previously charged with a drug-related offense but was subsequently acquitted.
Parojinog and Misamis Occidental Gov. Loreto Ocampos have agreed to organize a special police team to investigate Salas slaying.
