Jealous cop bites off lover’s lip

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya — Move over Mike Tyson, here comes the biting cop.

A policeman is in hot water for biting off his girlfriend’s lower lip in a fit of jealous rage.

SPO1 Pedro Manimtim bit off his girlfriend’s lower lip while they were on a date at a videoke bar last Nov. 3, according to a police report.

The victim said in her complaint that she thought Manimtim was just kissing and embracing her passionately until she felt him "detaching" her lower lip with his teeth. Manimtim was reportedly drunk then.

It took the intervention of some of the bar’s patrons to pull the couple apart. Manimtim had bitten off part of the woman’s lower lip and one and half inches of the victim’s flesh hung out of his mouth when they were pulled apart.

Manimtim got jealous when the victim took extra time inside the bar’s comfort room.

The cop, she said, suspected her of having an "affair" with another man while in the toilet.

Lawyer Ernesto Salunat said Manimtim could be charged with serious physical injury. Besides facing a maximum penalty of six years in jail, Salunat said Manimtim could also be dismissed from the service if found guilty. Charlie Lagasca
