Drug testing firm educates the youth

A drug-testing company will launch the first of its many strategies to help in the fight against illegal drugs.

An anti-drug awareness-cum-leadership training seminar dubbed Kabataan Susi Laban sa Droga will be conducted by DrugCheck Phils. Inc. in cooperation with officials of Manila’s Barangay 805 under barangay chairman Bobot Dimaano.

Selected students from the University of the Philippines will act as speaker-facilitators to community youth leaders of the fifth district of Manila during the seminar.

Also invited are doctors and health practitioners from the Philippine General Hospital who will discuss about the medical implications of drug abuse.

Mylon Villasante, spokesman of DrugCheck Phils., said, "Drugs have made significant inroads in destroying the future of our youth. We believe that a sustained campaign to educate the youth on the pitfalls of drugs should be undertaken."

"Education alone will not suffice, the strengthening of organizations and their capacity to police the youths’ ranks are essential to this very important endeavor," he added.
