4 kids of Pinoy deportees die

DAVAO CITY — At least four children of Filipino deportees have died in the ongoing crackdown by Malaysian authorities on illegals in the eastern state of Sabah.

The remains of two of the children arrived with the latest batch of 417 Filipino deportees in Zamboanga City last Friday.

The two kids, identified as Popoy Solaiman and Norhina Jul, died of gastropulmonary arrest before the deportees embarked on the 16-hour trip to Zamboanga City Thursday night.

Filipino migrants told this writer in a visit to Kota Kinabalu last week that two infants also died while houses in two known Filipino communities there were being demolished.

About 6,500 Filipino illegals have been sent home, and at least 30,000 more are expected to be deported. — Edith Regalado
