The mission was undertaken by a medical team from St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) Sagip Bayan Foundation, Inc. and Tanglaw Kalusugan Foundation, Inc.
Consultation and treatment of the 1,858 poor patients from Daet’s different barangays were held at the town’s Sports Complex, while surgeries were done simultaneously at the provincial hospital from March 1 to 2.
The medical and paramedical team of SLMC’s Sagip Bayan Foundation, Inc. and Tanglaw Kalusugan Foundation, Inc., led by Doctors Hil Dineros and Sammy Tanzo, was composed of 58 doctors and five dentists, supported by 53 paramedical staff that included nurses, medical technologists, pharmacists and technicians.
During the two-day mission, Dineros said their team performed 71 major operations including goiter, cyst and mass tissue removal as well as 83 hernia and other minor surgeries. Over 700 patients availed of various laboratory examinations. Some 438 ECG tests, 381 X-ray examinations and 183 ultrasound tests. The dental team also attended to 118 patients, Dineros said.
Local provincial and town officials, led by Vice Gov. Alexis Pardo, expressed their gratitude to President Arroyo and the First Gentleman as well as to SLMC for the quality medical attention extended to their constituents, most of whom are indigents.
