New Palace appointees take oaths of office

President Arroyo swore into office yesterday her latest batch of appointees led by Elberto Emphasis as presidential political liaison officer for Central Visayas.

Mrs. Arroyo also ceremonially pinned additional "stars" on five newly promoted officers of the Armed Forces, namely Maj. Gen. Pedro Atienza, Brigadier Generals Celso Castro and Neon Ebuen, both of the Air Force, and Cesar Gopilan and Mateo Mayuga, both of the Army.

Among the new appointees were Carmelita Ericta, administrator of the National Statistics Office; Orlando Dizon, associate commissioner of the Bureau of Immigration; Arthur Yap, president of the International Trading Corp. of the Department of Trade and Industry; and Lito Mondragon, board member of the Civil Aeronautics Board.

Sworn in as private sector members of the National Museum’s board of trustees were Fathers Gabriel Casal and Bienvenido Nebres, Jose Lacambra Ayala, Ramon del Rosario, Marinella Fabella and Elizabeth Zobel.

New appointees to the National Solid Waste Management Commission, which is under the Office of the President, were Alfred Chan, Sityee Chiong and Sonia Mendoza.

The President also administered yesterday the oath of office of Caloocan City second district Rep. Edgar Erice. — Marichu Villanueva
