More probers join hunt for killers of Nueva Ecija judge

CABANATUAN CITY – With the Nueva Ecija police facing a blank wall, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have joined the investigation into the ambush-slaying of Municipal Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) Judge Geminiano Eduardo.

Senior Superintendent Raul Bacalzo, provincial police director, said the composite team is also composed of agents from the provincial intelligence and investigation bureau, the provincial Traffic Management Group (TMG) and the police crime laboratory.

Eduardo, 66, a cousin of re-elected Jaen Mayor Cesar Eduardo, was felled by assassins’ bullets in Peñaranda town last Monday.

Police said the judge was driving an owner-type jeep in Barangay Sto. Tomas when one of two motorcycle-riding men fired at him and his two companions, prosecutor Felipe de Guzman, 56, and stenographer Luzminda Morelos, who hitched a ride with him. – Manny Galvez
