Probe of recruitment of Cavitenos for EDSA III up

Reelectionist Cavite Gov. Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr. yesterday announced he will investigate reports that the Remulla clan and Cavite Rep. Ayong Maliksi had recruited Cavitenos for the pro-Estrada assault on Malacañang last Tuesday.

Revilla said he has received reports that as many as 3,000 Cavitenos were recruited for the pro-Estrada march to Malacañang at P300 each from depressed areas in various towns like Gen. Mariano Alvarez and Bacoor.

He said reports also indicated that vehicles were allegedly hired by the Remullas and Maliksi to transport their recruits for P1,000 each.

"These people were misled into believing that they had the full support of the Estradas, the Remullas and Maliksi for the rally. But as we all know by now, they and scores of other pro-Estrada rallyists have been abandoned and are now on their own at various hospitals," Revilla said.

The governor also assured Cavitenos who were hurt in the assault of medical assistance.

He said he has dispatched teams to various hospitals in Metro Manila to look for Cavitenos who were injured in the fighting. His office will also receive requests for assistance from victims.

"All they have to bring is their identification papers," Revilla said.
