The fatalities were identified as Menchie Rosima, 29, of Tawid Sapa II, Kaligay, Novaliches, Quezon City and her five-month-old son Roxiel.
Menchies husband, Ronnie Rosima, 34, who was also on board the bus, survived with minor bruises.
Investigation conducted by Ezer Nicolas, crew member of the Philippine National Construction Corp. (PNCC) motorcycle unit, showed Ariston Magadia, 28, driver of the ill-fated Batangas Liner bus, with plate number DVA 222, failed to control the steering wheel when the bus right wheels ran over a deep dent along the right shoulder of the road. This caused the bus to swerve farther to the right, hit the perimeter fence and finally crash into an acacia tree.
The injured were identified as Marites Vivas, 25, of Cumbillan, Batangas City; Thelmie Mendoza, 19, of Poblacion, Oriental Mindoro; Virginia Matapanas, 50, Filinvest, Quezon City; Ritchel Fernandez, 29, Raymart Fernandez, 7, and Ritchelle Mae Fernandez, all of Filinvest, Quezon City.
