Meralco dumepensa kay Hodge vs Guiao
MANILA, Philippines — Ipinagtanggol ng Meralco si veteran forward Cliff Hodge kaugnay sa pahayag ni Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao matapos ang 85-83 pagtakas ng Elasto Painters sa Bolts noong Linggo sa PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup sa Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Sa post-game press conference ay hindi napigilan ni Yeng ang galit kay Hodge kung saan nagkabanggaan ng tuhod ang Meralco big man at si Rain or Shine guard Adrian Nocum sa third period.
“Medyo kinabahan kami sa nangyari kay Adrian. Again, it was Cliff Hodge. Dami ng ganung insidente ni Cliff Hodge. He is the ‘dirtiest player’ in the league, I think,” ani Guiao sa Fil-Am forward.
“Dapat siguro tingnan ng liga ‘yan. He is a danger to the other players in the game. His record speaks for itself,” dagdag nito.
Kaagad namang dinipensahan ng Bolts management ang kanilang 38-anyos na 14-year veteran.
“We therefore take very strong exception to the unfair, unfounded, and unprofessional statement that the head coach of Rain or Shine, Coach Yeng Guiao, uttered in public during his post-game interview against our player, Mr. Cliff Hodge, whom he unjustly maligned in public by calling him ‘the dirtiest player’ in the PBA,” pahayag ng Meralco.
Hindi rin isang ‘dirty player’ si Hodge kagaya ng turing sa kanya ni Guiao, ayon pa sa PLDT franchise.
“In the play involving Adrian Nocum, Cliff simply stepped in to try to draw a charge in a defensive stance position. The contact was incidental and should not be misconstrued as a dirty play,” paliwanag ng Bolts sa insidente.
