Cars are the stereotypical toys for boys. While typical kids get toy cars, some kids well… they get the real thing.

Last Saturday,  Charles Dennison “Chuck” Uy, the son of businessman Dennis Uy and wife Che Uy, celebrated his first birthday at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La at The Fort Manila in BGC. But instead of having toy cars in his party, toddler Chuck had real Ferraris on display at his party. Guests were greeted by a white 2018 Ferrari Lusso at the entrance, and displayed at the other end of the room at the center of the main stage was a dark blue 2018 Ferrari 488. Also present at the party were Philippine car aficionados Willy Soong (president of Autostrada Motore Inc., distributor of Ferrari in the Philippines) and Felix Ang (president of Auto Nation Inc., distributor of Mercedes-Benz in the Philippines). Complemented by other luxury cars from Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar, Chuck’s birthday party had a Casino Royale feel where both adults and kids, men and women alike, enjoyed — proof that the appeal of cars has no age or gender limits.

Celebrating Subaru’s 2018 Tanabata Festival

Another cause for merriment this first week of July is Subaru’s 2018 Tanabata Festival held by Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. (MIP), the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines.

Tanabata (also called the “Star Festival”) stems from a legend between star-crossed lovers who are only able to meet once a year. In Japan, this reunion is traditionally commemorated by merry making and writing wishes on tanzakus — small vertical paper cards — to be hung unto bamboo trees in the hopes of them being granted. MIP brings the Tanabata Festival to the Philippines by giving Filipinos the opportunity to turn their wish of owning a Subaru into a reality.

In attendance was Autostrada Motore, Inc. (Ferrari Philippines distributor) president Willy Soong (second from left).

From July 1 to 8, Subaru showrooms nationwide will be giving special offers such as low down payments, discounts, free services and accessories for the Forester, XV and Outback.  Customers will also be treated to week-long merriments, snacks and refreshments at Subaru showrooms.

Standing in front of the Ferrari Lusso are (from left) Anton Lopez, mom Che Uy and birthday boy Chuck Uy, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, dad Dennis Uy, the author and Finance Secretary Sonny Dominguez.
