FGP upgrades 2010 Ford Focus line-up

- Ria Tanjuatco-Trillo -

MANILA, Philippines - The 2009 Ford Focus hatchback received numerous awards and accolades. However, Ford, not a group to rest on its laurels has added subtle but class-leading upgrades to the entire Focus line-up.

There are a total of eight Focus variants now. The entry-level Ford Focus Style and Trend in 1.8L Duratec with manual transmissions, the Ford Focus Trend in 1.8L Duratec with manual transmissions (available in both sedan and hatch), The Focus Ghia 4-door Duratec AT, the Focus Sports Hatch 2.0L Duratec AT and the top two variants – The Focus Ghia Sedan 2.0L Duratec AT and the Focus Sport Hatch 2.0L Duratec AT.

Truth be told, the added features are a little hard to spot but they do promise to enhance the driving experience. The Ford Focus Sport Hatch now has a new front bumper with body color matching Front Hood Bar and Fog Lamp Bezel which all give it a slightly sportier edge. The 16-inch ST Design Wheels were put in for added comfort and smoother driving. And timing couldn’t be better for introducing the Rain Sensing Wipers, Auto On/Off Headlamps and Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror.

The Ford Focus Ghia TDCi enjoys all the same upgrades as well – minus the new front bumper, Front Hood Bar and Fog Lamp Bezel.

The Ford Focus 1.8L Trend sedan and hatch now have 16” alloy wheels – upgraded from its previous 15” wheels. For added safety, the variant can now also boast of a Front Passenger Airbag aside from the Driver Airbag.

So how much would a Ford Focus set you back now? The answers will surprise you – in a good way. Like last year, the line up still starts at P779,000 for the 1.8L Style sedan with 5-speed manual transmission. The mid-level 1.8L Trend (sedan and hatchback) with a choice of manual or automatic transmission are pegged at P799,000 and P879,000 respectively.

For P975,000 you can choose between the 2.0L luxury Ghia sedan with AT, leathers seats and a 6-way electrical driver seat or the Sport hatchback.

The two TDCi variants – the Focus Diesel Sports Hatch and the new Focus Diesel Sedan – both with 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch AT are priced at P1,195,000.

Aside from the little upgrades, Ford is upping the ante on after-sales service with its 24-Hour Parts Delivery Guarantee. More than 60 pre-selected parts for the repair and maintenance of your Ford fall under this program – including parts for the engine, driveline, brakes and suspension, body and exterior. To avail of this, owners must have vehicles repaired in the authorized Metro Manila dealer workshops within the 3-year warranty period. And much like fast food deliveries these days, if the part is not delivered within the guaranteed time (in this case, 24 hours from the time the owner authorizes the purchase), the part is free of charge. Ordering time is from Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm and Saturdays from 8am to 4pm.
