SWS: Public satisfaction with Sara improves to 58%

MANILA, Philippines — Despite the ongoing impeachment trial against her, Vice President Sara Duterte’s public satisfaction rating slightly improved in the second quarter of the year, according to a recent survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
Results of the June 20 to 29 survey released yesterday showed 58 percent of the respondents saying they were satisfied with the performance of the Vice President.
It was a slight improvement from the 54 percent she obtained in March this year.
Those who were dissatisfied with Duterte hardly moved, from 25 percent to 26 percent, while undecided respondents dropped from 21 percent to 15 percent.
The latest survey was conducted a month after the House of Representatives impeached Duterte for the second time and a few days before the impeachment trial began on July 6.
The Vice President’s net satisfaction rating improved from the “moderate” +29 to a “good” +31.
The net satisfaction rating is obtained by subtracting those who said they were satisfied from those who were dissatisfied with the performance of the government official.
SWS classifies net satisfaction ratings of at least +70 as “excellent”; +50 to +69 “very good”; +30 to +49 “good”; +10 to +29 “moderate”; +9 to -9 “neutral”; -10 to -29 “poor”; -30 to -49 “bad”; -50 to -69 “very bad”; and -70 and below “execrable.”
Across areas, satisfaction with Duterte was highest among those in her bailiwick Mindanao at 88 percent (from 86 percent), followed by those in the Visayas at 58 percent (from 56 percent) and Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon at 45 percent (from 42 percent and 39 percent, respectively).
Dissatisfaction with the Vice President was highest among respondents in Metro Manila at 42 percent (from 37 percent), followed by those in the rest of Luzon at 35 percent (from 34 percent), the Visayas at 19 percent (from 23 percent) and Mindanao at five percent (from four percent).
Duterte, however, still has the highest net satisfaction rating among top government officials.
President Marcos obtained a net satisfaction rating of “neutral” -7, slightly up from “poor” -15 in March.
Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian obtained a net satisfaction rating of “moderate” +18, composed of 45 percent who were satisfied and 27 percent dissatisfied with his performance.
Speaker Faustino Dy and Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo obtained “neutral” and “moderate” ratings, respectively.
