Fire damages P600K worth of properties in Sambag 1

CEBU, Philippines — A fire hit a residential house in Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City on Sunday dawn, July 27, leaving an estimated damage worth P600,000.

According to the Cebu City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)  the incident broke out at 2:12 a.m. The fire was immediately raised to first alarm at 2:13 a.m., and reached the second by 2:22 a.m.

Authorities declared the fire under control at 2:43 a.m. and fully extinguished by 3 a.m., through the immediate aid from the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and other responding units in the city.

Based on the initial investigation, the fire engulfed 400 square meters wide, damaging a house turned into a boarding house for rent made of mixed materials and occupied mostly by students.

No casualties were reported from the incident.

Apart from the house, a photo studio that was occupied nearby was damaged.

Cebu City BFP Senior Officer 2 Wendell Villanueva said that the photo studio got damaged from the water during the fire fighting operation.

He added that the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
