Olympic-bound athletes atat nang mag-ensayo sa Metz
MANILA, Philippines — Walang dapat sayanging oras ang walo sa 15 national athletes na naunang bumiyahe sa Metz, France para sa training camp bilang preparasyon sa 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Ito ang sinabi ni Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino kasama si Chef de Mission Jonvic Remulla sa mga Olympics-bound athletes.
“It’s all systems go here at La Moselle,” wika ni Tolentino. “The morale of the team is very high.”
Dumating sa Metz noong Sabado ng umaga sina Tokyo Olympics silver medalists Carlo Paalam at Nesthy Petecio ng boxing, Vanessa Sarno, Elreen Ando at John Febuar Ceniza ng weightlifting, rower Joanie Delgaco at boxers Aira Villegas at Hergie Bacyadan.
Ito ang unang pagkakataon na nagsagawa ang POC ng isang training camp para sa mga Olympic athletes isang buwan bago ang Paris Olympics na nakatakda sa Hulyo 26 hanggang Agosto 11.
“The first batch of athletes that flew in with us here last Saturday morning are amazed with the facility and are eager to wind up their training for their respective events for the Olympics,” ani Tolentino
Hindi naman maitago ng mga Pinoy athletes ang kasabikang mag-ensayo sa nasabing pasilidad.
“The athletes are excited and enthusiastic about this training camp the main objective of which is to make sure our athletes are in top shape for the competitions,” wika ni Chef De Mission Jonvic Remulla.
Inaasahang darating sa Metz sina Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Eumir Felix Marcial ng boxing, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, fencer Samantha Catantan at gymnasts Carlos Yulo, Emma Malabuyo at Levi Ruivivar.
Kumpiyansa si Tolentino na aabot sa 20 ang mga Pinoy athletes na sasabak sa Paris Olympics mula sa athletics, golf at swimming.
