27 pang preso sa CIW positibo sa COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — May 27 pang preso sa Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) sa Mandaluyong City ang nakumpirmang positibo rin sa coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ng Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) na ang naturang 27 bilanggo ay kabilang sa 51 detenido na isinailalim nila sa COVID-19 testing noong Abril 21.

Dinala na ang mga inmate sa Site Harry, sa National Bilibid Prison sa Muntinlupa upang i-quarantine. Pawang nasa maayos naman umanong kalagayan ang mga naturang inmate at asymptomatic rin, o hindi kakakitaan ng anumang sintomas ng sakit.

“The said PDLs (persons deprived of liberty or inmates) were received properly by the medical staff of the quaran­tine facility and were checked by the medical doctor on duty. The PDLs are well and are asymptomatic,” anang BuCor.  “Continuous focused medical care and monitoring will be provided to ensure that no PDL will develop severe symptoms.”

Nabatid na ang Site Harry ay mayroong 300 beds at itinayo alinsunod sa standards na ipinatutupad ng World Health Organization at ng Department of Health.

Nag-donate naman umano ang International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) ng 27 bagong folding beds at mga mattresses para magamit ng mga bilanggo kaya laking pasalamat sa kanila ng BuCor.
