Matapos ma-bash sa social media

MANILA, Philippines — Matapos na maging biktima ng pamba-bash sa social media, pinangunahan ni National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) director P/Major Gen. Debold Sinas ang programa sa pagpapapayat kasama ang iba pang “obese” o matatabang mga pulis.

Ito ay makaraang lumahok ang nasa 1,200 tauhan ng NCRPO kabilang ang nasa 300 obese 2 at 3 na mga pulis sa FitFil World Obesity Day Health and Fitness Festival nitong nakaraang Sabado sa Bonifacio Global City Ampitheater, Taguig City.

“NCRPO supports this endeavor to break the cycle of shame and blame suffered by these individuals. We believe that it is high time to revaluate the approach to address this complex chronic disease that affects more than 600 million people worldwide,” ayon kay Sinas.

Lumahok si Sinas sa 4-kilometer walk-jog, dalawang oras na fitness dance at weight loss talk sa mga health and fitness doctors.

Ayon sa NCRPO, maraming tao kabilang pa ang mga doktor ang may maling persepsyon sa mga obese na tao. Ang pagiging obese umano ay isang “chronic ­disease” ngunit ang nakikita ng publiko ay pagiging ta­mad, katakawan at kakulangan ng kagustuhan na pumayat. Pero tulad sa ibang chronic disease, mas malalim umano ang ugat ng obesity tulad ng “genetic, psychological, sociocultural, economic at environmental.”

“In line with CPNP’s weight loss campaign, as your Regional Director, I am taking the lead to be the model in the NCRPO’s Project BMI Reduction aimed to instill discipline, promote healthy lifestyle, and improve the image of Metro cops,” dagdag ni Sinas.
