7 hurt as truck hits jeepney in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - At least seven people were injured when a truck rammed a passenger jeep in Manila yesterday morning.

Jeepney driver Jonathan Rodriguez, 24; Jonathan Meneses, 50; his wife Donna Joy, 34; and their son, Karim Rashid, 8; Jane Karen Hernandez, 23; Rodel de Leon, 43; and Al Cator, 32, were taken to the Philippine General Hospital for treatment of injuries. 

The truck driver, Candido Pangilinan, surrendered after the accident and is under the custody of the Manila Police District’s Traffic Enforcement Unit.

Senior Police Offcer 1 Jay Santos said Rodriguez was cruising along Padre Burgos street when Pangilinan hit his jeepney at around 9:30 a.m.

Pangilinan said he did not notice the jeepney but is willing to talk to the victims and compensate them.
