MANILA, Philippines - Twenty-three persons – 15 men and eight women – were apprehended by anti-drug operatives of the Quezon City Police District and the National Capital Region Police Office in a raid in Barangay Sto. Cristo yesterday afternoon.

The police raided a shanty on Pampanga street, where the suspects were allegedly selling and using drugs, Masambong police station commander Superintendent Christian dela Cruz said.

NCRPO’s Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs chief Senior Inspector Robert Razon said they bought P10,000 worth of shabu from the suspects and seized another 66 sachets said to contain illegal drugs, with an estimated street value of P66,000, after the sting that preceded the raid.

Operatives also seized bladed weapons and drug paraphernalia.

Razon said the drugs were supposed to be sold to jeepney drivers and other motorists, who use the shabu to help them keep awake.
