Quezon City schools to offer K to 12 programs

MANILA, Philippines - Select public senior high schools in Quezon City will offer K to 12 programs after the city government entered into a public-private partnership with an educational institution.

Mayor Herbert Bautista recently signed a memorandum of agreement with the Magna Anima Education System for the development of several special programs for senior high school students in the city.

Under the agreement, Magna Anima will build specialized facilities for programs such as visual, design and performing arts, media arts, sports and maritime studies.

A subsidiary of ABS-CBN, Magna Anima will operate and maintain the facilities for three years starting next year. It will also train principals, faculty and administrative staff to prepare them in managing the facilities.

For its part, the city government will provide tax incentives to Magna Anima and give an additional P5,000 per student voucher on top of the support provided by the Department of Education (DepEd) yearly.

A program management team composed of representatives from the local government, DepEd-Quezon City and Magna Anima will be created to oversee the programs for these facilities.
