MANILA, Philippines - The Court of Appeals (CA) has dismissed a contempt petition filed by salutatorian Krisel Mallari against Sto. Niño Parochial School (SNPS) and its officials over their earlier refusal to release her good moral character certificate despite a court order.
In a three-page resolution promulgated on Aug. 10, the CA’s second division denied Mallari’s urgent motion to cite SNPS in indirect contempt as being moot and academic since Mallari has enrolled with the University of Sto. Tomas so the purpose of the order has been served.
The CA, however, cited the defiance of SNPS since the certificate it issued “does not contain a statement certifying that Krisel is of good moral character.”
The ruling was penned by Associate Justice Socorro Inting.
