MANILA, Philippines - A 38-year-old janitress reportedly committed suicide after she was laid off from work in Valenzuela City on Thursday.
Police said Jennifer Bagaporo was found lifeless in her rented house along Ubas street, San Miguel Heights, Barangay Marulas at around 11 a.m.
Her wrists were slashed. An empty bottle of muriatic acid was found beside her, police probers said.
Reports said Bagaporo’s brother, Johnny, left her Tuesday night to visit their father, who was confined at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila.
He told police that his sister had been suffering from depression after she was retrenched from work.
