Drug pushers eyed in MPD grenade attack
MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Police District (MPD) is looking at drug pushers as among the ones behind the lobbing of a grenade at one of its police stations last week, an official said yesterday.
“They may be retaliating for the arrest of their accomplices,” MPD director Senior Superintendent Rolando Nana said.
He added that he has ordered a review of all drug cases previously handled by MPD Station 7, where a grenade, wrapped in packaging tape, was found in the parking slot reserved for the station’s commander, Superintendent Joel Villanueva.
The grenade was found two hours after a grenade exploded in an abandoned building 30 meters away from the station.
Last year, drug pushers were also believed to have lobbed grenades at the MPD Station 1.
