P2-M anti-anxiety drugs seized at NAIA

MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs seized at least 81,529 caplets of the anti-anxiety drug alprazolam, with a street value of P2 million, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday.

Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force executive officer Sherwin Andrada and NAIA customs police chief Reggie Tuason said the shipment, which arrived on June 30, was sent by Iqra Garments in Pakistan to Jasmen Tameyo of Garden City, Parañaque.

No one has come forward to claim the shipment, misdeclared as food supplements, they said.

The shipment has been turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
