MANILA, Philippines - Senior citizens in Quezon City can avail themselves of free anti-pneumonia vaccine as part of celebrations for the city’s 75th anniversary this month, Mayor Herbert Bautista said yesterday.
In a statement, Bautista urged over 8,000 elderly to have themselves vaccinated against pneumonia on Oct. 18 at different health centers in the city.
He noted that pneumonia is one of the most common causes of death among old people.
The mayor also signed an ordinance providing P7,500 cash incentive to residents who will celebrate their 75th birthday on Oct. 12 – the city’s founding anniversary.
The measure was filed by district four Councilor Raquel Malañgen.
The local government is also giving P5,000 to Quezon City residents who will celebrate their 75th birthday this month.
