MANILA, Philippines - A taxi driver managed to outsmart four alleged robbers after he drove his vehicle into the compound of a police station in Quezon City in the middle of the heist before dawn yesterday.
Two of the alleged robbers – construction workers Reymar Angac, 25, and Rudolf Manalo, alias Jayson Roxas, 29 – were arrested by police right outside the Quezon City Police District Station 4 in Novaliches after cabbie Wilson Ching parked the cab there, said QCPD director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano.
Angac, Manalo and two other cohorts boarded the cab along Quirino Highway in Barangay Gulod, told Ching to take them to the town proper. They later robbed Ching of his P1,500 earnings, said QCPD Station 4 commander Superintendent Norberto Babagay.
Once they reached the vicinity of the police station, Ching managed to drive into the station’s compound to ask for help.
The two other suspects ran off but Angac and Manalo were left behind.
Police recovered from Angac a .22 caliber handgun and a bladed weapon from Manalo.
