MANILA, Philippines - Starting Aug. 25, the Parañaque City government will implement its expanded truck ban to ease traffic congestion with the planned closure of the Sucat interchange.
Mayor Edwin Olivarez said trucks will no longer be allowed to ply the city’s major roads including Dr. A Santos Avenue (Sucat Road), East and West Service Roads of the South Luzon Expressway, Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Airport Road and Quirino Avenue.
The ban will be in effect Mondays to Fridays, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., and again from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a window period from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Olivarez said the truck ban would ease the effects of the planned closure of the Sucat Interchange on traffic in the area.
He said they have met with truckers’ groups to inform them of the expanded truck ban.
Covered by the ban are 10-wheeler cargo trucks, trailer trucks, transit mixers, and those hauling sand and other heavy payloads.
“Six-wheeler trucks are exempted from the ban to allow logistics and cargo forwarding companies to move their cargo to and from the airports and their warehouses any time,” the city government said.
