Rapper trashes hotel

MANILA, Philippines - A rapper was arrested early morning yesterday for allegedly causing a scene and destroying equipment at a Quezon City hotel.

Joey Amoto, 44, better known as “Black Jack,” is now in police custody following the incident at Tizza Hotel on Imperial Street in Cubao, said Superintendent Ramon Pranada, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station7.

Amoto was arrested based on the complaint of hotel owner Wilfredo Cruz.

Pranada said they are preparing cases for malicious mischief and alarm and scandal against the rapper.

He said Amoto was also found to be in possession of a strip of aluminum foil, which is being tested for illegal drugs.

Pranada said Amoto came from a gig at a bar along Tomas Morato Avenue and was allegedly drunk.

Pranada said the rapper arrived at the hotel at around 6 a.m., looking for a woman, but hotel staff called his attention since he was not about to book a room there.

Pranada said Amoto reportedly became wild and unruly, hurling a payphone and destroying the hotel door.

Amoto then went out, prompting hotel staff to call for help from policemen posted a few blocks away.
