Scholarships available for 500 cops

MANILA, Philippines - Scholarship grants are up for grab for members of the Philippine National Police and their dependents, PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima said yesterday.

He encouraged police officers to take advantage of the program for their career advancement.

The PNP said the educational benefit program is being offered by the Informatics Institute, which has undergraduate courses and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) diploma programs.

Informatics is offering 500 slots with 50 percent discount on tuition and five slots for full scholarships to qualified PNP personnel, including contractual employees, extended to their dependents for a maximum of four years’ college education for different bachelor degree programs.

The programs include Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Information System, and Bachelor of Business Administration Major in Marketing and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.

For TESDA diploma programs, the courses include computer hardware servicing, computer programming, visual graphics and animation.

The PNP said interested individuals may visit and inquire directly to the following branches of Informatics: Eastwood, Manila, Northgate, Megamall Center, Makati Center, Cebu, Imus, Baguio, Cagayan De Oro and Consolacion Center.
