MANILA, Philippines - Two security guards were killed in separate incidents in Valenzuela and Caloocan cities on Wednesday night.
John Mariano, 43, was manning his post inside the premises of Canada Sawmill Corp. located along MacArthur Highway in Marulas when he was stabbed by a drunk worker identified as Celso Gujilde at around 9:30 p.m., Valenzuela police chief Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento said.
Police said Gujilde got mad and repeatedly stabbed Mariano when the latter refused him entry.
The victim died at the scene, police said.
Armamento said the suspect escaped but was nabbed in a follow-up operation.
During police interrogation, Gujilde said he had been harboring a grudge against Mariano.
In Caloocan, security guard Atilano Combate, 46, died after he was stabbed by Roderick Estrella, a tricycle driver.
