MANILA, Philippines - A teenager died in Quezon City Friday night when he and another man grappled for control of a gun, which went off and hit him in the chest.
James Michael Limin, 19, died at the Manila Central University Hospital following the incident in Barangay Unang Sigaw at past 6 p.m., said case investigator Police Officer 2 Jogene Hernandez.
He said it was unclear why Limin and Erwin Comendador were fighting over the gun. Comendador fled the crime scene following the incident.
The investigator said a policeman on duty at a nearby precinct heard the gun go off and brought Limin to the hospital, where he died more than 20 minutes after the shooting.
Hernandez said a .38 caliber revolver loaded with three bullets was found near the victim.
