MANILA, Philippines - Mandaluyong City Mayor Benjamin Abalos will serve as a panelist in the United Nations (UN) Habitat 7th Session of the World Urban Forum to be held on April 10 in Medellin, Columbia.
This year’s forum is entitled “Dialogue on Innovative Financing Instruments for Local Authorities.â€
Abalos will be the only Asian and Filipino to grace the UN forum.
The panelists will discuss innovations that would help local government units overcome their revenue limitations to serve its constituents effectively.
Mandaluyong City has been cited by the Department of Finance’s Bureau of Local Government as second in local resources revenue generation among the cities in the National Capital Region for two straight years despite having the smallest land area in Metro Manila.
Abalos will talk about Local Financing Mechanisms as Key Components of Urban Strategies and the Global Experience.
