MANILA, Philippines - Tension ran high at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 Monday afternoon when an unidentified male caller threatened that a bomb would explode at the airport.
NAIA terminal manager Dante Basanta’s staff, Christie Vizcara, received the call at around 4:45 p.m.
“Is this NAIA? A bomb will explode within 24 hours,†Vizcara quoted the caller as saying in Filipino.
Security officers immediately dispatched fire trucks as well as bomb-sniffing dogs to search for the explosive but it turned out to be a hoax.
Officials said they are tracking down the caller.
