Chinese, HK tourists arriving in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - More than 1,000 Chinese and Hong Kong tourists will arrive in Manila, Mayor Joseph Estrada announced yesterday.

In a phone interview with The STAR, Estrada said a cruise ship from China carrying 1,028 tourists would dock at the North Harbor Port tomorrow.

He said the visit is a tie-up between businessman Andrew Tan and Michael Romero, chairman of the North Harbor Port.

Estrada said the world-class port, which was inaugurated Tuesday, would help boost the city’s development.

“It will generate more jobs. It is the best seaport in Southeast Asia,” he said.
