MANILA, Philippines - At least 15 kilos of raw duck and chicken meat, as well as six kilos of fresh duck eggs, were confiscated by customs and animal quarantine officers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 2 from Chinese travelers who arrived from Xiamen Wednesday night.
Customs examiners Mark Almase, Kristian Cordis and Jemky Santos said they found the poultry and eggs hidden in a cooler box wrapped in plastic jackets.
Animal quarantine doctor Arlon Sanchez said there is still a ban on poultry products from China, where there has been an outbreak of bird flu.
It was not clear whether the Chinese travelers, who were not identified by the officers, were arrested.
