MANILA, Philippines - One of five men who fled after robbing the passengers of a bus in Quezon City was killed by police officers Thursday night.
The slain suspect, in his early 20s, remains unidentified but police officers reported that they found on his person a bladed weapon and an iPhone 3G stolen from Ryan Joseph Bolanos, 28, a passenger of a Maji Transport bus.
The five suspects boarded the Baclaran-bound bus that was cruising along EDSA that night.
Quezon City Police District Station 10 commander Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo Jr. said a bus marshal was onboard and informed the police station, which dispatched policemen along EDSA.
Pedrozo said policemen who were at the corner of Mother Ignacia spotted the bus and saw men getting down at past 11 p.m.
When policemen approached and accosted one of them, the suspect tried attacking one of the policemen but got shot.
The other suspects managed to escape, taking with them the loot they got from the other passengers of the bus.
