MANILA, Philippines - A motorcycle driver was killed while his companion was injured after they were hit by a truck used by a candidate running for councilor in Quezon City.
Nathaniel Tadili, 25, was declared dead on arrival at the Fairview General Hospital following the collision at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Regalado Highway, traffic investigator Senior Police Officer 1 Edgardo Talacay said.
The police have in custody Scarla Fortuna, 34, the driver of the Isuzu Elf (UFF-962) used by Joe Visaya, a candidate for city councilor.
Talacay said Tadili was driving along the southbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue and was making a left turn at Regalado Highway.
However, the motorcycle was suddenly hit by the truck driven by Fortuna who was driving along the northbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue.
Policemen who were the first to respond to the scene were the ones who also rushed the victims to the hospital.
Fortuna is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property, homicide and physical injury.
