MANILA, Philippines - The bodies of two men, believed to be victims of summary execution, were found in separate areas of Baseco Compound in Port Area, Manila yesterday.
The body of Gener Borjal, 36, of Malibay, Pasay City, was found in front of a house at Block 11 Extension, New Site at past midnight, investigators said. Borjal had been shot below his right ear and his body did not bear any signs of a struggle, they said.
The second victim, Rusty Salamat, 25, was found at the intersection of Blocks 18 and 20 at past 4 a.m. An improvised shotgun was found tucked into his pants’ waistband.
Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez said Salamat, who has been charged with various street crimes, was shot in the right side of the head.
Salamat’s father and several Muslim leaders refused to have the victim’s body autopsied and his death investigated, police said. Salamat was buried in accordance with Muslim tradition, they added.
