MANILA, Philippines - One of two alleged robbers was shot dead by policemen shortly after he held up a teenage girl in Quezon City past midnight yesterday.
Police have yet to identify the slain suspect. His cohort managed to escape, according to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano.
Albano said the suspect was killed by operatives from QCPD Station11 led by Superintendent Norberto Babagay, who responded to a robbery along Quezon Avenue in Barangay Tatalon.
Anjanette del Rosario, a student at the San Bartolome High School, was waiting for a ride when the two suspects suddenly appeared from nowhere and at gunpoint took her Samsung cellular phone.
The victim chanced upon a passing police car and sought help.
SPO1 Cristituto Zaldarriaga said they were about to approach the suspects when one of them allegedly fired at the officers, prompting them to retaliate. Police recovered from the suspect a .38 caliber revolver and the victim’s phone.
