Suicide victim’s wife airs side
MANILA, Philippines - The wife of a businessman who was found hanging at the rooftop of a condominium in Pasig City clarified yesterday that the story’s “contents were not accurate at all.”
Cherry Mayne Pascual-Quintong, a Mass Communications graduate, said the family’s permission was not sought before the death of her husband, Arnel, was published.
“In the same way, why was the story published without our permission? Are we not to be informed about this before publishing (the story) in your newspaper,” Quintong said in a letter to The STAR.
Quintong said the story was an invasion of their family’s privacy as she pointed out that their complete address was indicated in the article.
The victim was found hanging at the rooftop of their condo unit Friday and was rushed to the Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center where an attending doctor declared him dead on arrival.
Quintong said there’s no truth to the report that depression and family problems drove her husband to end his life.
“This is absurd. Nobody talked to me that time even my family. How would I say such thing and worst affirm such to the public if indeed it’s true?” she asked.
“My family and I are already grieving and this is the last thing we are expecting to see,” she added.
