MANILA, Philippines - A fire hit a five-story building along Gil Puyat Avenue in Barangay Bel Air, Makati City shortly after midnight yesterday.
Makati fire chief Ric Perdigon said the blaze broke out at the Philippine Development Alternative Foundation (PDAF) at 12:27 a.m. Perdigon said firemen had a hard time putting out the flames.
“We had to wear breathing apparatuses and enter the building room by room. The room where the fire started could not be seen from the outside as the windows were covered,” he said.
The Makati Central Fire Station deployed eight fire trucks and a ladder truck to the fire scene.
Perdigon said the fire started from the ceiling of a room at the third floor of the building. Firefighters put out the fire at 4:15 a.m. Perdigon said a faulty electrical wiring could have sparked the fire.
