Makati police, food outlets personnel pass drug test

- Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least 283 uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of the Makati City police and crewmembers of five food outlets in the city tested negative for substance use in a recent random drug test conducted by the Makati Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC).

Superintendent Jaime Santos, MADAC operations chief, said the drug tests were part of the city government’s ongoing campaign for drug-free workplaces and a drug-free Makati.

MADAC conducted the test on the workers of Buddy’s Restaurant in Barangay Olympia, Godzilla Traders in Barangay San Isidro, Chic-Boy outlet in Barangay Poblacion, Mang Inasal in Barangay Tejeros, and Chowking outlet in Barangay Valenzuela.

Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay lauded MADAC for its efforts to fight drug abuse and promote drug-free communities and workplaces in the city.

“We hope that other business establishments and companies in the city will be as cooperative and supportive of our campaign for a drug-free city. After all, they stand to benefit from the reduction in drug-related crimes, improved peace and order situation, and increased productivity of their workers,” Binay said.
