Woman shot dead in Malabon

MANILA, Philippines - A woman who was reportedly a drug pusher was killed by an unidentified man in Malabon City at past midnight yesterday.

Gerlie Sarmiento, 29, was buying cigarettes from a store along Mejorada street in Barangay Tenejeros at around 1:30 a.m. when a man called out to her as he drew a handgun from his waistband, witnesses said. The man shot her in the head, then fled as she fell to the ground.

Sources said the victim could have been involved in botched drug transactions.
