3 neighbors tie up, beat autistic teen
Manila, Philippines - An 18-year-old man, reportedly autistic, was tied up and beaten by at least three of his neighbors in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City Tuesday afternoon.
The teenager’s mother filed a complaint of child abuse with the Quezon City prosecutor’s office yesterday against Nestor Ramos, Cardo Ramos and Rogelio Ramos.
She said that at around 5 p.m. Tuesday, a neighbor told her to go to the Ramoses’ compound because her son was being beaten. Others said they saw Rogelio tying the teenager’s hands, and the three men beating the teen.
By the time the complainant reached the compound, she said she saw her son bound, naked and bloodied. “When they (the Ramoses) saw me, they untied his hands and stopped (beating) my son,” the mother said.
She said they later found out that Nestor had the incident put in the barangay blotter two hours later, saying the teenager entered their house and that his neighbors punched the teen, who was fighting off those beating him. Nestor told village officials that because the teenager attempted hitting people and running away, that they “decided to tie the hands” of the teenager.
The three accused remain at large.
