MANILA, Philippines - Caloocan City Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri has scored another victory against Vice Mayor Edgar Erice after the Office of the Ombudsman junked another graft case filed by Erice against him.
Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales dismissed both the criminal and administrative cases filed by Erice against Echiverri for allegedly entering into a disadvantageous agreement with Gotesco Investments Inc. for the sale of the property where the burned Grand Central Mall stands.
The Ombudsman dismissed the graft raps against the mayor for lack of evidence.
Morales said the absence of probable cause to indict Echiverri necessarily exculpates Jose Go, president of Gotesco Investments, who was also charged by Erice.
