Las Piñas tops Civil Service Commission's anti-red tape drive

MANILA, Philippines - Las Piñas City bested other local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila in providing frontline health and civil registry services, according to a survey conducted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

CSC director Myrna Macatangay said Las Piñas garnered the highest grade of 81.85 percent on the Anti-Red Tape Act Report Card Survey in 2012. The frontline services on health and civil registry are the focus of the survey.

Las Piñas Mayor Vergel Aguilar lauded the full cooperation extended by city hall personnel and officials on the success of the city government’s anti-red tape campaign.

“This is genuine service to the people where there are no fixers, no bribes, no corruption and no red tape. We have adopted a citizen’s charter to promote this,” Aguilar said. “While it took days to get a business permit or license before, now it takes only 30 minutes to secure one. Same with other services.”
