PDEA busts Pasay barangay chief
MANILA, Philippines - A Pasay City barangay chairman was arrested by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives for selling 50 grams of shabu to an undercover agent in Makati City Wednesday afternoon.
Reynaldo Rosaban, 44, village chief of Barangay 117, Zone 14 was nabbed in an entrapment operation at the corner of Arnaiz Avenue corner Evangelista street.
Rosaban is now facing charges for selling illegal drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and is temporarily detained at the PDEA custodial facility awaiting a court order for proper disposition.
“We have been observing a trend that barangay officials continue to engage in illegal drug activities in their communities,” PDEA director general Jose Gutierrez Jr. said in a statement yesterday.
He said that in the last two years, five barangay captains were arrested for illegal drug activities nationwide.
