MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) said yesterday it is looking into claims that assassins or hitmen of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) have infiltrated security agencies in Metro Manila.
“We will be verifying that report,” said PNP spokesperson Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz.
According to a report given by a military analyst, NPA hitmen have managed to get themselves hired as security guards posted in various private and government establishments in the metropolis while waiting to be given their targets.
According to the analyst who requested anonymity, these “sleeper” NPA hitmen have allegedly passed the screening of the PNP for security guards and were given licenses.
“Most of the NPA rebels who are now deployed in the metropolis are working in various private and government establishments as blue guards,” the military analyst said.
