MANILA, Philippines - Police have filed charges against two men for allegedly stealing a woman’s car in Manila.
Charged before the Manila Regional Trial Court (RTC) were Rannie Macaspac Saballas and Dave Lacdao, both of San Andres Bukid, Manila.
Saballas was arrested while Lacdao remains at large.
In their joint affidavit of apprehension, police officers from Manila Police District Station 9 said while they were on patrol last Dec. 19, Emily Ang Chua, 59, of Malate, Manila, asked for police assistance after she saw two men steal her Toyota Vios, with license plate ZBM-529, which was parked in front of her house.
She said she also lost a black shoulder bag containing credit cards, a photocopy of her car’s certificate of registration, credit card statements of account, two passbooks, P6,500 and a check worth P100,000.
Police recovered her car, which was abandoned along Pasay Road in Makati City, the same day.
Saballas was arrested the same day while trying to cash Chua’s check at a bank along Taft Avenue. Police said Saballas had written his name on the back of the check.
Saballas said Lacdao, his neighbor, gave him the check.
