MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) chose Caloocan City as one of four cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) to receive the agency’s “seal of good housekeeping.”
Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri yesterday expressed his appreciation for the award. The win means the local government is entitled to receive financial aid from the DILG via the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).
Echiverri said the money will be used for projects listed or included in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.
Among the projects that would be boosted by the LGSF are the procurement of new medical equipment for the President Diosdado Macapagal Memorial Medical Center, construction of a two-story lying-in center, clearing of tributaries in Barangay 167 and the augmentation of emergency response equipment.
The other recipients of the good housekeeping seal are the cities of Makati, Marikina and Navotas.– Jerry Botial, Pete Laude
